Imola Village (ex Convent of the Good Sheperd) (Imola)

Italy / Emilia-Romagna / Imola
 hotel, convent

A former convent, this building was originally commissioned by Pope Pius IX, inaugurated in 1845 and entrusted to the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. Work on the large architectural complex began in 1888 and involved the demolition of adjacent buildings from the previous era. The so-called "Conventone" thus assumed its current appearance, with a large central body, two lateral wings, and a large internal courtyard, and was inaugurated in 1895. The building sustained a lot of damage during WW2. It is currently privately owned and operating as a hotel, but occasionally hosts cultural events in the courtyard.
