New Hanza City borrowed its name from the famous and historically significant Hanseatic League in which Riga was of particular importance being one of the major trading cities. This symbolic name New Hanza City unites characteristic elements of the ancient Hanseatic League, i. e. finance and trade, in a dynamic environment and an international spirit. With New Hanza City project, we would like to restore the historical significance of Riga in the international environment, and to develop our city as a regional financial centre.
