caboose, interesting place
Property of Parkway Motel
Brought here from Chicago in October 30, 2012 on the bed of a large semi truck. The Soo Line caboose was so large that the semi it rode spanned the width of Oak Street while the men were unloading it. Three men unloaded the caboose onto a segment of railroad track nestled into a corner of the motel property. The owner Antoni Wolan renovated and converted the caboose into a motel room for 7 months. He also kept that old-time feel by keeping as many original parts or relics as he could, including the conductor's chair. It was opened to the public on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013.
The caboose suite has all the accommodations, including a bed for two and a pull out futon that will fit two children, bathroom and shower, air conditioning/heat, cable TV, and a small desk area. Train memorabilia decorates the walls which feature a collage of the various stages in the caboose’s restoration. Courtesy: www.wiscnews.com/
