Former space for The Sand Bar/Sand Bar/Duane's Sand Bar/Sand Bar Tavern/Dells Sand Bar until around mid-August 2007 (relocated to 130 Washington Street) and local newspaper publishing office/tourist information center The Express & Dellsnightlife.com/The Express Newspaper from early 2010's until around mid 2010's is now a cafe, relocated from the Riverfront Terrace at 27 Broadway to this location and reopened on May 25, 2019.

An Amtrak winter train depot for Wisconsin Dells (original depot located about a block southwest from here) was temporarily housed in this building (Sand Bar was the occupant during that time) from late 1982 until 1989 after a Soo Line freight train (carrying coal) derailment damaged a train depot on Independence Day, July 4, 1982. The current train station was rebuilt and reopened on June 10, 1989 at 11am.

As Jay Heesch rode donkey-back up the mountains of Costa Rica, he was inspired by the coffee huts along the path. Though the coffee was exceptional, Jay was most impressed with the way the coffee huts created community. It was here that people gathered to share their stories, care for one another, and find a place of belonging. All along the mountain, hut after hut, community was made. Jay came back and together with our team set out to make exceptional craft coffee in a place of belonging and care for a community. In 2013, Bella Goose Coffee was born.

That year, Jay's son Jordan, purchased a Gene Cafe 8 oz coffee roaster and began very small batch roasting. His first method of selling coffee was really fun, but short lived. Held call up his friends and family, figure out just how much coffee they intended to drink, and after roasting, he'd drive it over to their houses. This turned out to be a fraught business model for a number of reasons, one being that Jordan would spend most his afternoons sitting and talking with the customers with every drop off.

Soon, two friends joined the Heesch's and together the 6 founders had a crazy dream of opening a cafe. Those friends ended up getting married to each other, and are now the directors of the headquarters in Wisconsin Dells. All of the renovation, menu creation, and design was done with that team's blood, sweat, and tears. The Bella Goose Headquarters opened softly on August 8, 2014 but opened officially on September 19, 2014 at the Timber Falls Village strip mall (demolished in 2019) at 1009 Stand Rock Road. That location closed its doors on September 22, 2018 but a temporary location was opened at the Riverfront Terrace at 27 Broadway on September 13, 2018 and closed on March 30, 2019. Finally, it was relocated to this location and reopened on May 25, 2019. This main cafe is also known as Bella Goose Coffee - Downtown Roastery + Market.

Bella Goose means 'Beautiful Lead.' Goose have been studied for years by scientists for their teamwork, loyalty, and leadership. At Bella Goose we hope to be a part of inspiring beautiful leaders in our world. Our mission is to enrich communities through people-first hospitality, and empower marginalized people globally!

A second location was opened on July 11, 2019 at the Lower Dells Boat Tours building near the Wisconsin River. It is also known as Bella Goose Coffee - Wisconsin Dells Cafe on the River.

Three locations were opened in Chiang Mai, Thailand: Mueang Chiang Mai district on May 31, 2018 (also known as Bella Goose Cafe at the Hill), Pa Daet sub-district on March 21, 2022 (also known as Bella Goose Cafe on the Pond), and Si Phum sub-district around early 2023 (also known as Bella Goose Coffee x ALT_ChiangMai/Bella Goose Coffee at ALT Old Town/Bella Goose Coffee at ALT). Bella Goose also opened in Angeles City, Philippines on December 9, 2018 but closed its doors around April 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

A third Wisconsin location was opened in Briggsville on June 1, 2024 near Lake Mason. That location is a distribution center with a small cafe area.
