New Glasgow (2006 pop. 9,455) is a town in Pictou County, in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. It is situated on the banks of the East River of Pictou, which flows into Pictou Harbour, a sub-basin of the Northumberland Strait.

New Glasgow is the largest town in Pictou County with a population of 9,455, urban area population of 20,876 and land area of 2,695 acres. Settled in 1784 and established in 1875 as a commercial trade route, it is one of the province’s main growth centers outside Halifax and Sydney.

The population of the census agglomeration, in the 2006 census, establishes New Glasgow as fourth largest in the province and 77th largest in the country (this includes the smaller adjacent towns of Stellarton, Westville, and Trenton as well as the western rural area of the county.
