The first floor of this building used to house jewelry stores Mechler's Jewelry Store/Mechler's Jewelry/F J. Mechler Jewelry/F.J. Mechler (until March 14, 1917), H.J. Knippel (March 15, 1917-c. mid 1928 [business converted into a malt shop/ice cream parlor]), malt shops The Malted Milk Shop/Malted Milk Shop/The H.J. Knippel Malted Milk Shop/H.J. Knippel Malted Milk Shop/Knippel Cafe (May 24, 1928-c. Fall 1932), Knippel's Malted Milk Shop (c. Fall 1932-May 21, 1936), bus station Northland-Greyhound Lines ([space shared with {The} H.J. Knippel Malted Milk Shop] November 1930 [originally located at 204 Broadway {next door west from here, space shared with Consolidated Boat Co.}]-c. May 13, 1936 [relocated to 214 Broadway {space shared with Bauer & O'Neil's Drug Store}]), bars Blue Diamond Cocktail Lounge/Blue Diamond Lounge/Blue Diamond Tavern (mid 1936-September 30, 1940), O'Connor's Bar (October 1, 1940-May 1990), O'Connor's Irish Spirits Saloon (c. early-June 1990-Summer 2001), Tipper's Bar & Grill (c. October 2001-mid 2006; mid-June 2011-late 2012), and Sharky's Bar & Grill (mid 2006-Summer 2010); the second floor of this building's front end (206½ Broadway) used to house a law office/real estate broker Francis R. Bannen ([c. 1940's-c. March 19, 1959 [relocated to 313 Broadway and reopened around March 26, 1959]); the second floor of this building's rear end (206½ Broadway) used to house Charm Beauty Shop/Charm Beauty Salon (late 1940's-early-December 1992).

The second floor became an extension of the bar with a canopy and deck added over the sidewalk on Broadway in 1989, when O'Connor's Bar and its owner Terry O'Connor were the tenants of this building. The canopy/deck was used for bar and food services from 1992 until 2006 (Tipper's Bar & Grill and its owner Tip Hahn were the tenants) when it was ceased by the city's orders, due to safety hazards (e.g. collapse of the canopy after one of its posts being hit by a car, cigarettes being thrown onto an adjoining building [the roof of T-Shirt Factory], and items falling on pedestrians on the sidewalk). However, it reopened in June 2014 with conditions (e.g. installation of the cable support system, complying with the conditions from the public works committee, etc.) by Dells Distillery owner Jeff Morris after receiving permission from the Dells Planning Commission and Dells Common Council.

Dells Distillery is a country-themed restaurant and bar that opened on May 14, 2013 in downtown Wisconsin Dells, a rich and rustic 1920's Western-themed restaurant for all ages. A unique menu including 12 sandwiches featuring our signature "fire-braised" meats, extraordinary salads, specialty tator tot creations and, a youngin's menu the kids will love!

For the adults in your party we offer our very own distilled vodka, whiskey, brandy, and rum and with 14 different unique tap lines throughout, you will never go thirsty! If you're planning on staying for a while, choose one of the 2 VIP barrel tapper tables.

We are very proud of all the work we have put into the Dells Distillery, to turn it into the Western-themed restaurant and bar it is and overall believe it provides a little bit of everything for the whole family.
