From a children’s toy store founded in 1978 by Roberto "Bobby" Claudio, Toby’s Forms and Shapes—named after Claudio’s then two-year-old son— "Toby" shifted into retail of skateboards as the sport was gaining popularity. Seeing the growing demand of sporting goods, the management decided to focus on sports retail, re-launching the store as Toby’s Sports and Hobbies back in 1982.
