Bheramara Upazila (Kushtia district) with an area of 153.72 sq km, is bounded by Lalpur upazila on the north, Mirpur upazila on the south, Ishwardi upazila and the Ganges (Padma) on the east, Daulatpur (Kushtia) upazila on the west, and. The Ganges flows by the side of the upazila. A part of the Hardinge bridge, constructed in 1912, is located in this upazila. Damodar Beel is notable.

The location of Bheramara town is 24.0208698N 88.9900048E. The town is now a municipality with an area of 3.26 sq km and population 20676; male 49.52%, female 50.48%. It has 9 wards and 13 mahallas. The literacy rate among the town people is 50.3%. The town has one dakbungalow and one rest house.

Bheramara thana was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of 6 union parishads, 42 mouzas and 61 villages.

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 144221; male 51.55%, female 48.45%; Muslim 97.08%, Hindu 2.87% and others 0.05%.
