Built in 1892 designed by architect and wealthy owner Leonard Forbes Beckwith. In 1904 it was sold to Mr/Mrs Sam Hill and renamed 'Shaghlin'. It was sold again in 1916 to H. R. Hanna and considered the "Dan Hanna Farm" with a huge stable complex for 100 horses and the grounds used for notable horse shows. In 1948 - and until 1976 - it was the Stockbridge School.

By the late 1970's it would become the DeSisto School and remain as such until founder Michael DeSisto passed away in 2003 and the school relocated to Florida. Put on the market in 2004 it languished unoccupied with an asking price from just under $6M to later $4.5 million. With unpaid taxes and no viable buyers (a polo school was proposed but failed to materialize) it was auctioned with 275-acres in April 2009. It sold at auction (with 330-acres) for just $350,000 plus the assumption of the mortgage of $887,000 and back taxes of $67,000. (Lee Bank holding the mortgage bid up to $300k; the winning buyer was Patrick Sheehan.)

In 2012, after the manor house was gutted but not restored, the property was listed for $8,995,000 - with it unlivable in its current state.
