The first ever World Peace Flame monument was inaugurated on 18 April 2002 in The Hague, in the presence of Mayor Deetman, Princess Irene van Lippe-Biesterfeld, Erica Terpstra, Dr. Mansukh Patel and Savitri MacCuish, hundreds of local and foreign invitees. It stands outside the Peace Palace.
