The Golden Nugget Mine Ride was a combination rollercoaster and haunted attraction built in 1960.

Despite the fiery destruction (and subsequent closing) of Hunt's Pier in the early 1990s, the attraction survived. It remained in operation when the pier was reopened as "Dinosaur Beach" in the mid-1990s, a pier which featured dinosaur-themed children's rides and attractions.

The ride was officially closed in 1998 as the popularity of Dinosaur Beach waned and the pier was finally shuttered. Sitting dormant for a decade, it was finally sold to Knobel's Amusement Park in Pennsylvania at the end of the summer 2008 season.

  • the golden nugget mine ride was the best ride ever the next time you go to moreys pier ask the boss to start it and to conect hunts pier with moreys pier and tell them to build a jungle land and A flyer.
  • Hunt’s Pier never had a fire as far as I’m aware of. Just the Ocean Pier fire in December 1943 which destroyed the pier. The new Hunt’s Pier opened 1957 and was sold Feb 1986 to four investors one which bought Sportland Pier in 1984. Sportland carousel was moved to Hunt’s in 1986. They went bankrupt after 1990 and the pier was sold again and became Conko’s Party Pier for a year. Then, it was Ocean Pier 1993-1994 and Atlantic Pier 1995 after Tony Catanoso, his brothers and partners acquired the pier. In 1996 they transformed it into Dinosaur Beach after polling kids what theme they would like to see and they all said dinosaurs. It closed after 1998 and was sold to the Morey’s a year later.
  • A bunch of rides on the left side came down in 1989 because the owner at the time David Kami who bought the pier from Bud Hunt in Feb 1986 decided that some of the rides were outdated. Flyer, Jungleland, Pirate Ship Skua, train, and mini hot rods were all removed.
