Kyievo-Pecherska lavra (Kiev)

Kiev Pechersk Lavra (Ukrainian: Києво-Печерська лавра, Kyievo-Pechers’ka lavra; Russian: Киево-Печерская лавра, Kievo-Pecherskaya lavra) is one of the oldest monasteries in Ukraine. Presently the headquarters of the Metropolitan of Kiev of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Muscovite Patriarchate.

The Dnieper Hills are dominated by the greatest monument of Kiev, the Pechersk Lavra, built almost nine centuries ago. A complex of churches, masterpieces of architecture by themselves, has been a holy place of worship for devout Christians. Famous for its catacombs with the saints' relics, Lavra is also called the Monastery of Caves.
