Volcano Region Uweinat - North

large region with former volcanic activities which have to be seen with the emergence of Jebel Uweinat, when volcanic materail was pressed through the thick layer of Nubian sandstone. Many smaller volcanos can be see as well as the cracks of the different large sandstone ledges, that developed under the enormous pressure from underneath. You have to pass through here on the direct way to Gilf Kebir following the edge of Arkenu dune. Not too difficult but very scenic.
