A medieval tower east of the village Amfithea of central Evia, at the foot of mount Dirfys, in a meadow where the municipality created a small recreation area. It is next to the church of St John.
The purpose of the tower was to protect the aqueduct which since Roman times was suppling water to Chalkis.
Nothing is known about the tower, but since it is similar to other towers in the area, like at Gymno and it had a similar function to the towers in Mytikas , we can assume that it was a Venetian tower from the early 15th century.
The Venetians had become the rulers of the Frankish territory of Chalkis since 1383. Until the end of their rule in 1470, when the Ottomans came, they constructed many towers like this in the area.
