interesting place, listed building / architectural heritage, head house (train station)

The construction of Puka Station was completed in 1889, two years after the completion of the railway. The wooden, single-storey station building in the cronicist style was built according to a standard design similar to the buildings of such stations as Antsla, Karula and others. The predominantly horizontal plank cladding is replaced by vertical plank cladding in the basement part of the building up to the window sills, which is separated from the upper part by a narrow lintel. In the centre of the building with a semi-oval roof was a waiting room, and at both ends of the building were additional office premises. The station building is located on the western side of the railway, forming a coherent station complex together with the auxiliary buildings. Since 1999, the building has been registered as an architectural monument. The Puka Station building belongs to AS Eesti Raudtee and is still partially in use.
