Hayhurst Bridge, Northwich (Northwich)


Named after the France-Hayhurst family of Bostock Hall. A swing bridges, Hayhurst Bridge was built in 1898, cross the Weaver at Northwich. The bridges were the first two electrically-powered swing bridges in Great Britain (the other one was Town Bridge) and were built on floating pontoons to counteract the mine subsidence. They were designed by Colonel John Saner.
