  • The UPRR is slated in tentative plans to be replaced by a multi-use path from Erie to Boulder, what a great commute that would be!
  • The rail line is currently not in use. The Boulder County Railway Historical Society in Valmont has made attempts to reopen the line as a tourist/museum railway. However, the UPRR has given the line a value of "millions of dollars." Thus, the BCRHS cannot purchase it. The railroad values this line because of the chance of a contract to haul once again haul coal to the Valmont power plant. The plant currently buys coal from Wyoming mines and ships via BNSF Railway.
