The teerth has 61-foot monolithic idol of Shri 1008 Bhagavan Parshwanath installed along with the statues of eight other Tirthankaras. It is the tallest monolithic statue (61 feet, 185 tonnes) of Bhagavan Parshwanath, in the Khadgasana Mudra, mounted on a 48-ft pedestal.
The teerth has been undertaken as per the intuition of Yuvacharya Sri Gunadharanandi Maharaj. The idol of nine Tirthankaras are placed on nine pedestals. Also a statue of Shri 1008 Bhagawan Parshwanatha (57 feet) is installed as the main deity.
The 61 feet idol was craved from a huge hillock of Koyara village near Devanahalli of Bangalore district, weighing around 300 tonnes. The stone was transported from Bangalore through Hospet and Hubli in a huge trolley bearing 138 wheels.
Padmaprabha (sun), Chandrprabha (moon), Vasupujya (Mangala), Mallinatha (Budha), Mahavira (guru), Pushpadnatha (shukra), Munisuvratha (Saturn), Neminatha (Rahu) and Parshwanatha (mula) idols are other installed idols.
Yellow stone for Shri 1008 Bhagwaan Mahaveer was brought from Pakistan.
Varur is situated 17 kms from Hubli, on the national highway 4.
To reach Varur, take bus/jeep from city bus stand. Fare is Rs 9.00 per person.
Swasti Sri Dharmasena Bhattarakha of Amminabhavi joined hands with Yuvacharya Sri Gunadharanandi Maharaj and directed this venture.
An engineering college, diploma college and a school have also been built in the premises. A dharmshala and bhojnalaya are also there for teerth-yatris.
