perambur upcoming bridge (சென்னை / Chennai / Madras)

It was conceived with well founded intentions.Along with it other major road bridges were also taken up.and the foundation stone was laid for all the bridge works at Perambur.But after 8 years this bridge is still to be built.They wanted a bridge with pillars spanning.I realy dont know who was the Great engineer who thought of it,Without realising the shortcomings.Where in the northern side the bridge was supposed to land it was a pond some 45 years back.And it was filled up with rubbish and this ground where they tried to put up the base for pillars to hold the cross sections of bridge.The people failed miserably.Intial concieved at Rs17 crores now revised estimates stand at 40+ crores,with no solution in site.What they should have donme first they are doing now.Testing the soil for its strength.Great administrators we have,Who are trying to reinvent the Wheel.I am sure their findings will not allow them to contruct a bridge as they want it.And it has to go drawing board again before they understand the mechanics of soil.It may take another 50 years before they build this great bridge.Simply because they dont understand what technology is.People will continue to pay the price for being residents of this neighbourhood.
