park, wetland, nature conservation park / area

This natural area consists of seasonal wetlands, ash woods, fields, and a few semi-permanent ponds. The Bertelsen Trail and the shorter Malik Trail offer access to some of the area. Geese and ducks, muskrat and non-native nutria (or coypu) live in the channels and ponds. In recent years homeless persons sometimes camp in the ash and willow thickets away from the trails.
