his building has been renovated as the Detroit Police and Fire Services Headquarters. Opened in 2013, it also houses the City of Detroit Technology Systems Department, Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, City of Detroit Building Authority, and the Michigan State Police Forensic Science Laboratory.

Built in 1974 as the Internal Revenue Service Detroit Computing Center, the seven story, 465,000 sq. ft., building became vacant when the IRS built a new building next door. In 1999, MGM Grand Casino spent millions to make the building its temporary casino, including the construction of an eight story parking garage . It was replaced by the permanent casino and hotel 3 blocks to the north in October 2007. The city bought the building in 2011, and spent $60 million renovating it to accommodate the new safety headquarters.
