In 1896, Henry Ford completed his first automobile. It was constructed in the brick coal shed located behind the double house he and Clara Ford were renting at what was then 58 Bagley Street. The original shed was moved to Greenfield Village where it remains on display. An historical marker commemorating the event is attached to the side of the Michigan Building.
