The Octagon is located near the highest point of the Amherst College campus in Amherst, MA,
overlooking the valley to the south, the Town Common to the north, and the main campus to
the east. It was built in 1848 to house the College's natural history collection and an observatory.
It is now used as a classroom and office building.
