B.J. Johnson Soap Co. of Milwaukee relocated to this site in 1917 after outgrowing it's original Canadian plant at the northeast corner of George St and Britain St in downtown Toronto which was established in 1913. The 2 storey and basement plant was operational by 1918 and was expanded in stages until 1954. By then, the name of the company had changed several times: Palmolive Co. of Canada, Palmolive-Peet, Colgate-Palmolive-Peet, then finally Colgate-Palmolive Canada. Geo. Oakleys stone fabrication shop was acquired in the 1950's and turned into the main factory warehouse as was the Adams Furniture Co. - both located along Logan Ave. The plant was demolished in its entirety starting in October 1994 and continued until spring 1996 when the site was completely cleared.
