France / Corse / Casaglione / D81
interesting place, lookout tower, historic ruins

To fight against the plunder of the Corsican coast by the pirates of North Africa, the Genoese governors established in the XVIth century a monitoring system by building these famous towers which always decorate the coast of the island. Situated on a small hill near Tiuccia, in 328 ft in height, the tower of Capigliolo dominates marvelously the bottom of the gulf of Sagone. In the North the beautiful beaches of Liamone and San-Giuseppe, in the South the gulf of Liscia and the beach of Stagnone.
