If you visit Chiswick House, take a few extra minutes to experience this odd footnote. Located approximately 420 meters northeast from Chiswick House's front door, Powell's Walk is simply a pavement (a sidewalk to American's) which is walled-in on both sides. It is narrow in some places and near the middle you can't see either end. It is not for the faint-hearted, but is worth the short walk if you are not alone. Powell's Walk, an ancient right-of-way, runs from just east of St. Mary's Convent on Burlington Lane to St. Nichola's Church, a distance of about 240 meters. Old Chiswick Burying Ground which is hidden from view, borders the south wall of Powell's Walk.
