Inter University Accelerator Centre is an ion accelerator based research institute of University Grants Commission under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Govt of India. This centre has been pioneer since its inception by providing accelerator based research facility to all the universities and institutes of the country.
15UD Tandem accelerator, Superconducting Linear Accelerator (SC-LINAC) and ECR based accelerators and 1.7MV Pelletron accelerator are the main experimental facilities available at IUAC. Various other material characterisation facilities like RBS, ERDA, AFM, SEM, XRD, FTIR, RF sputtering etc. are also available at IUAC to the researchers.

Research in the areas of nuclear physics, material sciences, radiation biology, atomic physics and Accelerator mass spectrometry are carried out at IUAC.

In local public IUAC is known as BOMB FACTORY because of its earlier name NUCLEAR SCIENCE CENTRE. 15UD Pelletron tower is landmark of IUAC.
