office building, television broadcast station / TV centre, entertainment complex
CNN Center was built as the Omni Center, an expansion of the adjacent Omni hotel, in 1976, featuring shops, restaurants, an ice skating rink, and an indoor amusement park called The World of Sid and Marty Krofft. In the mid-1980s, CNN started to lease vacant space in the building and ultimately bought the atrium, renaming it as CNN Center. While the building offers studio tours and houses CNN's archives, most of CNN's programming takes place out of the Time Warner Center (built in the early-2000s by CNN's then-parent company, TimeWarner).
