The bridge is located north of the town of Apecchio (PU) .
The medieval bridge " humpback " is perhaps the most characteristic monument of Apecchio and unique in its kind in the province of Pesaro and Urbino in the Marche and maybe . His style is clean and dry elegance of its lines are imposed on the landscape with its magnificent arch of gray sandstone .
A document from the late fourteenth century attests to its existence , stating it had been partially spoiled as an act of war by Tifernati ( residents of Citta di Castello ) .
There is no news front , but it is possible that it is a building prior to the year one thousand.
On the top of the bridge there was a kiosk with a fresco of the Madonna del Ponte, much revered by the inhabitants of the neighboring countries . Quest'edicola at the beginning of 1900 it was removed to lighten the bridge, too old to bear its weight , and never rebuilt .
The old bridge was fully restored and consolidated in the eighties. It ' still used by apecchiesi , but up to thirty years ago was still a major route for entry into the country of men and animals. Not for nothing at his feet for decades was active in the workshop of a blacksmith , and long lines of mules and horses took shelter under its arches .
