Amalienborg Palace (Danish: Amalienborg Slot) is the formal home of the Danish royal family though not the most commonly used residence of the queen. It is located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It consists of four almost identical classisistic palace façades with rococo interiors around an octagonal square (Amalienborg Slotsplads); in the center of the square is a monumental equestrian statue of King Frederik V.
The castle is at all times protected by the royal life guard (Den Kongelige Livgarde).
