Salt Market (Wroclaw)

Poland / Dolnoslaskie / Wroclaw / Solny Platz

Here you can buy flowers (24h a day) and go to the nice restaurant.

In 1827 a statue of Field Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, who had defended the city from Napoleon, was erected in the center of this square, and it was renamed the Blücherplatz. This name remained until 1945, when, as part of the de-Germanization campaign, the Communist Polish government demolished the monument and renamed the square to the Polish translation of its pre-1827 name.

Under the square is a WWII-era bomb shelter, which is now used partially as a public toilet. It could accommodate 300 people and was designed by Richard Konwiarz.
