A new water tower was recently erected at this location. Below is a description from the City of Gardner's webpage.

This new water tower is being constructed at 159th Street and Kill Creek Road. On December 18, 2006, the 1 million gallon water storage tank was hoisted 150 feet to the top of the pedestal. If you would like to see a slideshow of this operation, please follow the website link below. The overall height is now 200 feet. The interior piping is complete and the next step is the painting of tank, which will begin in January 2007 as weather allows. The new tower will increase water storage capacity and improve water pressure for City residents.
