This Street was purchased by Shri C. Soorya Moorthy Naidu (1907-1990) from a Samiyar in the Early 50’s from what he saved o his pocket money. During the Indira Gandhi government in the 70’s he had to lay roads, build storm water drains, make plots and sell them to individuals. He retained 5 plots and sold the rest to the general public for a sum of Rs 4000 per ground. He donated a plot of land to the Karumariamman temple on the recommendation of the Dharmagattha. He further named the Street as Sri Devi Colony after the Sridevi Amman, the residing deity.
