townhouses, Greek Revival (architecture), 1840s construction

A pair of 3-story Greek-revival residential buildings completed together in the 1840s, after a 1840 fire destroyed the previous structures. They are clad in red brick above rusticated brownstone basements, and both three bays wide. The doorway of No. 19 has been simplified, with its entablature removed. There are wrought-iron railings at the stoops and basement areaways. No. 19 has full-length parlor-floor windows, with wrought-iron grilles at their bases. Both houses have simple roof cornices.
