Alluvial fans are cone shaped deposits which collect at a mountain front. They build up when a stream which has been confined within a mountain catchment loses energy as it spreads out onto the plain below. At that point, sediment is deposited and a fan builds up. They can occur in any climate but dryland areas are especially conducive to fan development.
Alluvial Fan are located near the Histoical Archeological site of MehargaRh in Balochistan province in Pakistan

  • It is an alluvial fan. I am a geologist and I have worked in this area. I had geological fieldwork in 2004.
