5-story Art-Deco residential building completed in 1887. Designed by A.B. Ogden & Son, but completely altered in 1939. Now faced in smooth grey stucco, the attractive feature of the building is the fire escape which has been extended across the building at each floor to provide the effect of a balcony. The end panels with four circular cutouts are a novel feature.
Two murals by Tony Sarg, illustrator and puppeteer who created the first Macy's Thanksgiving Parade balloons, used to decorate the lobby; apparently only part of one survives. The rooftop's ventilation hardware was transformed into whimsical animal sculptures in the 1940s or '50s, which may or may not still be there.
