Notes: Tuscumbia Landing was the western end of a railway system established in 1833 that extended from Tuscumbia to Decatur, Alabama. This site was a freight exchange point between rail and steamboats. Steamboat traffic was restricted from going further upstream because of the dangerous shoals in the river. This area is in the process of being developed into a historic park for local residents. Very little remains to indicate the existence of the historic site today other than a few rocks that supported piers that extended into the river used to dock steamboats.
