Open Joint Stock Company "tanner" was created by order of 21.03.1997 Renowned city by converting rent enterprise "Mogilev tannery", registered by the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee of 22.04.1997 № 35.

06/12/2000, the company is registered in the Register of state registration of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs for the number 700049385 decision of Mogilev Regional Executive Committee № 13-7 in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 16.03.1999 № 11.

The company started its operations in 1930 and is the oldest tannery in Belarus. Initially, the production activities of the company has been focused on the issue yuft, hard and saddlery leather goods. For many years, the company is the sole manufacturer and Russian leather until 1999 was considered a monopoly in the country for their production.
