The Mataf is the white central courtyard of the Masjid al-Haram. The square is where pilgrims during the Hajj and 'Umrah perform the Tawaf (ritual circumambulation of the Ka'aba), and serves as the main prayer area during salat. Landmarks aside from the Ka'aba include the Maqam Ibrahim and the Zamzam Well, which is located underground.
