Established in 1907, New York's Japan Society is the leading U.S. organization committed to deepening mutual understanding between the United States and Japan in a global context. Now in its second century, the Society serves audiences across the United States and abroad through innovative programs in arts and culture, public policy, business, language and education. Its building was designed c. 1971 in the Modern style by Junzō Yoshimura/Kelly & Gruzen.

The interior was used as a filming location for White Collar S02 E12 "What Happens in Burma" as the fictional site of the Burmese Consulate.
