3-story Neo-Gothic residential building completed in 1887. Designed by Richard Morris Hunt as the Jackson Square branch of the New York Public Library, it is clad in red brick. It is a charming reproduction of a Dutch guildhall of an early period, retaining traces of the Gothic, as may be seen in the trefoils of the blind arches above the windows. The iron strapwork which is typical of this style of architecture flanks the third floor windows and the Renaissance gable. It was converted to residential use in 1967.
