Launched in 1970, the Achinsk Alumina Refinery is the largest alumina refinery in Russia. It is conveniently located in the vicinity of the Krasnoyarsk and Bratsk aluminium smelters. UC RUSAL is a 100% owner of the facility.
In 2009, the refinery produced 922,400 tonnes of alumina. All the alumina produced is of the highest grade G-00. The Achinsk refinery also produces sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate and potassium sulphate as by-products.
The refinery employs 2,941 people.
