Old Goa or Velha Goa, second historic capital of Goa, the first being Goa Velha, the capital of Goa just before Adilshah conquered Goa, a few years before 1510. Adilshah moved the capital to this location, but kept the same name. The city was conquered by the Portuguese under Afonso de Albuquerque first in February 1510, then, after being driven out, March, from this city, and August, from Pangim, Albuquerque reconquered it again, November 25, 1510, "O Dia do Reconquista". This city was later abandoned due to the plague and the capital moved to Panjim, then called Nova Goa, the third capital of Goa. It has historic churches: The Basilica of Bom Jesus & St Augustine's Convent, the Se Cathedral etc.
