Romanesque-style building, second tallest masonry structure in downtown DC. Constructed from 1892 to 1899 as the city's main post office. Converted in 1983 to offices and a shopping center known as the Old Post Office Pavilion. Converted again in 2016 to the Trump International Hotel. Its modern atrium was designed Chapman & Twohey with interiors by Betsy Hughes of Hirsch Bedner Associates.

The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as "Old Post Office and Clock Tower". The northwest view was used as a clip for the opening title sequence of the "House of Cards" series on Netflix. It was renamed Waldorf Astoria Washington DC in 2022 after being sold to the CGI Hotels Group.
