To commemorate British gold medal winners at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics, Royal Mail painted a number of post boxes gold. Each gold medallist had a post box painted in recognition of their achievement, usually in their home-town.
In Marlow red post box had been painted gold for the recognition of Marlow's resident Naomi Riches, a Paralympic rower triumphed in the Paralympics rowing in Mixed Coxed Four.
Although another Olympic 5 times gold medallist Steve Redgrave is also a Marlow resident, but since this special recognition is dedicated to the 2012 event he failed to have his name included for the special golden colour post box.
