Eduard Vilde was one of the most influential and successful Estonian writers of the 20th century, the first in several genres, and a personality who was ahead of his time in many ways. His last home was in the Kadriorg district in Tallinn, in a house built for a castellan of Kadriorg Palace. The Museum has been operating there since 1946. The museum’s permanent exhibition provides a comprehensive overview of the writer’s life and work. Visitors also get to know Vilde as a person through the home, which is authentic to its time. The interior of the Eduard Vilde Museum has been considered one of the best-preserved 1920s interiors in Estonia.

The second floor of the museum houses various art and literature exhibitions that change regularly.
