Al Rusafi Statue (Baghdad City)

In 1970, the statue of a famous Iraqi poet Al-Rusafi (1875-1945) from the Bronze was unveiled in former square was alAmen Square, after the statue was putting in the square it's name became AlRusafi Square. During the establish of the statue, the poet's jacket was without buttons, but this doesn't reduce the technical value of the statue. The statue was made by the sculptor Ismail Fattah Turk (1934-2004).
Ma'ruf bin Abdul Ghani AlRusafi (1875–1945) (Arabic: معروف الرصافي) was a poet, educationist and literary scholar from Iraq. He is considered by many as a controversial figure in modern Iraqi literature due to his advocacy of freedom and opposition to imperialism and is known as a poet of freedom.
