The state-run All India Radio (AIR) is transmitted from here. This has a long cultural heritage in India. Even at this age of TV this building occupies a special status everywhere.
All India Radio Calcutta is one of the earlier radio stations of the world. Now some of its channels broadcast live programmes for 24 hours. There are Medium Wave (AM ) and FM stations. The languages in which the station broadcast include Bangla (Bengali), English and Hindi.
