The British-era bridge over Taladanda canal, connecting Madhupatna to OMP Square, will soon become a thing of the past.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to demolish the 90-year-old bridge, following media reports highlighting its poor condition.

The Taladanda canal was dug up by the British in 1869 and in subsequent years, a bridge was constructed over it. Due to lack of maintenance, the bridge has developed huge cracks and the pillars supporting it are also in a precarious condition. "The bridge is in a very bad shape and can crumble anytime. Taking note of media reports, we discussed the issue with NHAI officials and asked them to demolish it immediately.
