This was the site of the main fishing part of the lake in the 1960's to early 1980's. Local folks still try their hand at trout fishing, but it is not stocked regularly anymore due to city budget restraints.
There have been some minor improvements to the picnic areas near the fishing beach, but the mini piers and the old boathouse/restaurant have mostly fallen into disrepair, and the tule reeds have largely overgrown a lot of the shoreline.
